New Screening Tool Offers Breast Cancer Early Detection
A new breast cancer screening tool offers additional reassurance for early detection when combined with annual screening mammography. Abbreviated Breast MRI may be right for you if you have dense breast tissue and/or a moderately increased risk of developing breast cancer (15%-20% lifetime risk).
Studies* have shown that Abbreviated Breast MRI detects more breast cancer in patients with mild to moderate risk and/or dense breast tissue. Mammography is still the first test you should have to screen for breast cancer, however. To calculate your risk of developing breast cancer, visit: www.cancer.gov/bcrisktool
A referral from your healthcare provider is needed prior to scheduling an Abbreviated Breast MRI screening. Please note that Abbreviated Breast MRI is not covered by health insurance. For details regarding cost, please call our billing office at (952) 837-9700.
